Nintendo Switch stockings severly reduced in Japan because of coronavirus disrupting production

06.02.2020

It looks as though the coronavirus is behind the stocking disruptions of Nintendo Switch systems throughout Japan. Nintendo has published a formal apology letter in which they explained how the virus has slowed down both production and shipment, leaving many shops empty handed.

That's clearly not the worst problem caused by the coronavirus, but it really goes to show how this epidemy is influencing Chinese and global economy. After all, most technological products are manifactured in China, so it was inevitable for this situation to occur

Nintendo's letter only speaks for Japan, but it's very possible that with the constant spreading of the virus, the lack of stocks will affect other market sections as well. We wonder if it'll influence the production of new gen consoles, such as PS5 and Xbox Series X. It doesn't even sound too improbable, seeing how, as famous analist Daniel Ahmad on Twitter, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft said that in 2018, 96% of the consoles shipped to the US were produced in China. This doesn't necessarily mean a delay in reveals and releases, but we should expect a slight decrease of stocks when compared to previous launches
